  • Select Your Deck & then Your Slide

  • Introduction to  Using Add Ons (for Research & Learning) ~ Easy Bib & Table Formatter

  • Using Keep & Easy Bib

    • Create your Own Document for Research

    • Search the web for a source with information you might use in your paper.

    • Select some of the text of interest and right click, then select Save to Keep.   Give your note a title.

    • Create a document and give it an appropriate name to reflect your topic.

    • Click on Tools>Keep Notepad.

    • Options ~ drag the note in, copy/paste text, or revise and write reading from the text.

    • Add a URL footnote (may not be required but can be helpful)

    • Create a Bibliography Entry using the Easy Bib Add On.

Try & Apply Research with Documents, Keep & Easy Bib.  
  • Practice using Easy Bib yourself!  See goo.gl/u8I5c1  OR

  • Create research activity or paper, require three sources, and have students use the Easy Bib Add on

  • Make the assignment simple so they can focus on learning Easy Bib the first time.

  • Have them add the Save to Keep Extension & show them where to use the Keep Notepad in Google Documents

  • Post in your Google Classroom later

Integrative Activity (Introduction & Start)
In Sessions 4 & 5 attendees have the option to work together on a collaborative integrated activity using maps, slides, and sites OR working independently to build an online classroom, website, and syllabus/resources.

Integrated Activity A:  Team Up with Maps, Sites & Slides  (Collaborative)

This task will involve one or more collaborators.  You work in the ‘creative marketing division’ of  the ‘department of travel & tourism; for (selected city anywhere in the world).  In recent years, tourism to this city has declined.   Your job is to attract tourist with a welcoming website that include elements about this city.  For this task you will need to identify your team (2-3 people).  Work together (make sure everything is shared and created ‘together’’) and create

  • Google Map ~ that has at least 3 locations within your city to attract visitors

    • Someone creates a Google Map in Drive (Drive>New>Map>

    • Shares the map with the collaborative team ‘‘anyone with the link can view’

    • Each person will need to research (use Google!) and find a location to map.

    • Map and Save the location

    • Edit the location

      • Name, description & image OR video.

  • Google Slide Deck ~ ‘Visiting the City’ (tips, what you need to know etc)

    • Someone creates a slides deck and shares with collaborators.  

    • Each person contributes to a slide (see suggestions below)

      • What to wear ~ Climate

      • Currency  ~ Money exchanges

      • Cuisine ~ what food is like

      • Transportation ~ Bus, Uber, Taxi?

      • Where to stay ~ B&B, Hotels, etc.

    • Focus on formatting tools like Explore

  • Bring it together with a Google Site ~ Visit City!

    • Someone creates the Site & Adds Collaborators

    • Someone is in charge of the home page (adding ‘welcoming content),

      • How about a YouTube Video about the City?

    • Someone creates a page for the Map (give it a creative name)

      • Embed the map and make it attractive

    • Someone creates a page for the Slide Deck (give it a creative name)

      • Embed the Slide Deck.

Integrated Activity B:  Build Your Online Portal (Classroom, Syllabus, Calendar, Sites)

Step A:  Make an Online Portal for Your Class

  • Create a Classroom and give it a name.

  • Review how to invite students (get the code)

  • Create an assignment, using a document from Drive and giving each student a copy.  (L1)

 

Step B:  Update & Share your Syllabus with Ease

  • If you do not have a syllabus you can use this template.  https://goo.gl/ITzg8Q.  

    • Share this (anyone with the link can view, you will embed on your website)

    • Post as an assignment in your classroom and ask students to review.

      • Once they review have them ‘submit’ to ‘acknowledge’ their understanding of your expectations and requirements.

 

Step C:   Create a Shared Calendar for Parents & Students

  • Access your About page in Classroom.

  • Click on the link to your ‘Calendar’ ~ this will bring you to the Google Calendar.

  • Click on the drop-down to the right of your classroom Calendar (the one named ‘Class’

  • Share & make it Public on the web  (you will embed in your website later)

 

Step D.  Create an Online Portal for Parents (with calendar, syllabus) USE NEW SITES (sample)

  • Create and name a site Tst Last Name

  • Add title you would like to appear on your Home Page (example Accounting 101)

  • Add welcoming text and an image of Google Classroom that links to your classroom.

  • Create a page called Calendar (under home page)
